Seniors from Essex invited to participate in Senior Citizens Juried Art Show

Essex County is inviting senior lay and professional artists from across the county to participate in the 2021 Essex County Seniors Jury Art Exhibition and Exhibition.

The deadline for submitting artwork is Wednesday, September 1.

Categories include acrylic painting, crafts, digital, mixed media, oil painting, pastel, printing, photography, sculpture, watercolor, and works on paper. First place winners will be eligible to participate in the New Jersey Senior Art Competition.

Each participant must be at least 60 years of age and reside in Essex County to participate. Professional artists must meet at least two of the following conditions: have sold their art through commercial channels, including craft fairs; have shown their work in professional galleries or professional art exhibitions for two years or more; have had their work selected in at least two juryed art or craft exhibitions; have received at least two awards for their work; or be a professional member of a guild or association of artists or artisans.

Entrants may submit two entries of original works of art made within the past three years. Artwork should be matted, mounted or framed, with screws and wires attached. Hanging artwork should not exceed 36 inches in any dimension. Jobs less than 10 inches in any dimension can be included. 3D sculpture or crafts cannot exceed 36 inches in any dimension.

All photographs of the artwork must be clearly labeled with the artist’s name, address, title of the artwork, medium, date of creation, size, professional or non-professional status and the approximate value of the painting.
